The children in the Language Room were thinking of all the things their mothers do for them and that they can be thankful for.
The children have made special boxes with words of affirmation in them and some treats - but that will be a SURPRISE!

HAPPY  MOTHER'S  DAY

Last Wednesday was ANZAC Day.  We were learning about the soldiers who died in wars to keep our country safe.
This is a story that Joanna wrote:
Tomorrow will be ANZAC Day and lots of people died for us.  It is very sad.  We will wake up early.  People sing the National Anthem.  Every person wears a poppy on their clothes.  We are quiet because we are thinking of the soldiers who died for our country.

No school.
No work.
Many men and women died.
We are remembering the people who died in wars.

Yashneel wrote a story about the trip on the Ted Ashby boat.

We were sailing on the boat under the Harbour Bridge.  Away we went on the boat.  We pulled the rope.  It was hard work as we pulled the sails.

The children in the Language Room had an exciting trip to the Maritime Museum to learn more about immigration.
They were lucky enough to have a lovely sunny day and we were able to go on the boat called The Ted Ashby.
The skies were blue, the gentle breeze was blowing so we were able to put the sails up and let the wind take the boat around the Waitemata Harbour.

The children are heaving and pulling up the sails.
